(REAL NAME)

These CDs, which feature traditional Nyabingi rhythmic-trance ecstatic-spiritual sessions, are the real deal...as if Keith was an anthropologist recording these miraculous tracks for the rest of us. This is music to merge your soul to JAH. It's extremely entertaining, as well, to hear Keith's subtle musical touches, whether bass or rhythm or lead guitar. He contributes to the music in a truly humble (that is, not overbearing) way, which really enhances the music...... www.amazon.com

I-Cient-Cy Mau and the Mau Mau Warriors Biography

Icientcy’s mother, Eliza “Ms Shirley” Temple from Clarendon and his father Edmond “Painter” Williams from St. Elizabeth met while looking for work in Kingston. In the midst of this beautiful relationship came three sons – “Junior Desmond Williams” was the second son for the couple and gave life to “Icientcy”, a name that was given to him from his childhood days by elders in many inner city communities, meaning “ancient one “.

While attending Excelsior High School he read about the Mau Mau movement that was Kenya's militant resistance against British colonial rule that began in 1946 and ended in 1961 with many Mau Mau warriors losing their lives. His connection to their plight made him realise he would some day draw upon their strength and inspiration, putting it into his music. This gave birth to the name of his band “Icientcy Mau and the Mau Mau Warriors”.

After developing the Mau Mau sound, Icientcy now set out to assemble the Mau Mau warriors. Jermaine "Gadget" Reid (rhythm guitar, vocalist) grew up in Icientcy’s hands musically. Jermaine introduced Icientcy to Jermaine "Songo" Wilson, a drummer that was attending the Edna Manley School of Performing Arts. Songo introduced both his cousins Damion Benjamin who plays bass guitar and Jeffery Graham who plays keyboards. Richardo "St. Patrick" Lawrence a long-time friend of Icientcy, joined the Warriors as the percussionist. Icientcy met Nina Karl, a vocalist, many years ago and encouraged her to sing because he knew one day he would need her signature sound to accompany the Warriors. Chris “Jah Chris” Shepherd (lead guitar, vocalist), a great brethren from many moons ago, joined the band to add more to the Mau Mau sound. At the Warrior’s first rehearsal Icientcy knew he had created the Mau Mau warriors of this time.

I-cient-cy Mau is a prolific artist who will leave you pondering after hearing the lyrics to his songs. Soon to be one of Jamaica’s reggae ambassadors, born and raised in the outmost parts of Jamaica’s ghettos, namely Trench Town, and Central Village in Spanish Town, Icientcy developed his skill using his everyday struggles and the strong influences from some of Jamaica’s greatest musical ambassadors. Trench Town being the catalyst for reggae music, Icientcy has inherited that unique sound founded by his predecessors.

His debut album "When Words Come to Life" has a roots rock sound, mixed with a combination of strong vocals over the melody drum and bass. It is the true ghetto experience, all blended in harmony. The first two singles off the album “Works to Do” and “Struggle” pack a solid one-two punch that will have the world wanting more.

“Works to Do” spent 33 weeks on the Bess FM culture chart and 8 weeks at number one in Jamaica. The video is as compelling as the lyrical content to the song. Icientcy’s performance in the video is energizing and makes us realize that we all have “works to do”. “Struggle” has spent 5 weeks at number one on the Bess FM culture chart and is a song that everyone can relate to as it pertains to our day to day lives. “Can Follow None a Dem” is currently on heavy rotation on radio and is considered an inspiration prayer for many of Icientcy’s fans world wide. “We are From Trench Town” will have everyone claiming that they too are from Trench Town.

I-cient-cy Mau and the Mau Mau Warriors have performed Bob Marley’s 64th annual reggae festival in Trench Town Jamaica, 5 nights of reggae in Trinidad, Jamaica vibes “week endz”, and jamnesia session.

The Warriors are destined to ignite, organize, mobilize and centralize the next great era in reggae music.
