CONTINO - BLACK DOGMA
Contino's mixture of Blues, Americana, Cajun, and Roots music has earned them an ever growing fan base both in North America and Europe. To see Contino is often like watching a train rolling at high speed down a mountain. It's frenetic, exhilarating, and you might often wonder if it's about to run off the tracks - but it never does. ROR RECOMMENDS!

In Memory of Loss - Nathaniel Rateliff

Nathaniel Rateliff IN MEMORY OF LOSS Rounder Records 6190972  Stunning solo debut

Initially from Missouri and now based in Denver, Nathaniel Rateliff previously fronted two bands, Born in the Flood and the Wheel. Now he emerges as a solo artist on Rounder Records and stakes his claim to be this year’s Bon Iver. Initially recorded as bedroom demos the songs here have been polished like cut diamonds into a very desirable item. With a distinctive voice that is seductive and  idiosyncratic, Rateliff can also sound like Smog’s Bill Callahan at times. While there are moments of mild cacophony such as the Sparklehorse clang that drives Shroud and the shards of electric guitar on A Lamb On The Stone, the gemstones here are a brace of sparse, elegant and wearied meditations on life.

WELCOME TO THE ROOTS OF ROCK!

2012, a New Year!

We will actually be fully promoting this website as of end of April (its been a journey but we believe that we now have an interactive site that all can share and be part of) and would like to hear from interested reviewers and other parties who would like to assist us in getting a bigger profile in the world!

Every day we hear more and more great music from more and more great new/old Artists that we want everyone to hear!

We will soon be adding pages specifically to regions, like the Australian/New Zealand page, so are interested in talking to parties that might like to take ownership of a Roots Of Rock page/s in their particular "neck 'o the woods", for example the USA, UK, EUROPE, ASIA!

We are also interested in further developing a concept of "Roots Of Rock" music clubs, where roots music Artists and their audience can share music in familar surroundings and standards around the world........this would also assist in creating a network where unknown Artists would have the benefit of being endorsed by their appearance at a previous ROR club.

Dedicated to exposing and celebrating ARTISTS and their MUSIC from the genres of Blues , Soul , Gospel , Reggae , Jazz , Country , Bluegrass , Folk , Cajun , Rockabilly , Zydeco and more. Explore the Past, Present and Future of Roots Music......the genres of music that led to the evolution of Rock............the Roots of Rock!

So spread the word, become a member (it's FREE) of Roots Of Rock. The more of you who do so and purchase the music made by these Artists, the more they will be encouraged to continue writing, recording and touring, and the more we will all have to enjoy!

And if you know of some  Artist or you are an Artist that we should all know about, please contact us at info@rootsofrock.co.nz

We welcome all Blogs, Comments, Reviews and Discussion!

And please remember that all recordings are protected by copyright.........don't support services that promote the illegal distribution of copyrighted music.........it's hurting the Artists who created the music by stealing their livelihood!

BEST TO YA' ALL
