NEW ZEALAND ARTIST WINS INTERNATIONAL SONG WRITING COMPETITION
The prestigious US-based International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has announced its 2011 winners with artists from Australia and New Zealand doing very well. We are very excited because New Zealand has now tied with the US for the most Grand Prize winners from a single country, with Auckland artist Kimbra taking home the Grand Prize for the 2011 competition with her song "Cameo Lover" which was entered in the Pop/Top 40 category. The Grand Prize is ISC's highest honor, and prizes include $25,000 US cash and an additional $25,000 US in merchandise and services. Also out of over 16,000 entries from 112 countries, Auckland songwriters Annah Mac and Ruby Frost have won First Place in the AAA (Adult Album Alternative) category and Third Place in the Pop/Top 40 category respectively. http://www.songwritingcompetition.com/winners

Etta James (born Jamesetta Hawkins on January 25, 1938 in Los Angeles) the American blues, soul, R&B, and jazz singer and songwriter has died aged 73 due to complications from leukaemia and dementia that she had been suffering from for the last few years. James was best known for her distinctive, dynamic and gravelly vocals that drew fans to her songs I’d Rather Go Blind, In The Basement, Tell Mama, I Just Want To Make Love To You and one of the most successful soul ballads of all time, At Last.
Etta James had recently released a new album The Dreamer to excellent reviews.
BONNIE RAITT NEW ALBUM 1ST IN 7 YEARS!
"Slipstream" is the 62-year-old slide guitarist's first album since 2005's "Souls Alike" and will be the first release on her own record label, Redwing Records. The 12-track album will feature four songs recorded with producer Joe Henry and his musicians, which she describes as experimental. The remainder of the album is self-produced with her touring band.

New Joan Osborne Album in early 2012
Joan Osborne will release her new blues-inspired album, Bring it on Home, on March 27, 2012 via Saguaro Road Records. Here is the official word with the details: Joan Osborne recalls how "Blues music rescued me when I was in need of rescue."
On her newest album, Bring it on Home, Joan returns the favor and it's the blues that gets new life. Drawing from a voice the New York Times called "angelic ecstasy and sexual abandon," Joan Osborne has at long last made an album of vintage blues, R&B and soul songs.

Award-winning blues-rock guitarist and singer-songwriter Joe Bonamassa kicked-off his 2011 U.S. Fall Tour on October 25, 2011. On his tour, Bonamassa has performed to sold-out crowds in Minneapolis's State Theater, Detroit's Fox Theater, Chicago Theater, Boston's Wang Theater and most recent, sold-out a two night performance at the legendary Beacon Theatre in New York, NY on Friday, November 4, 2011 and Saturday, November 5, 2011.
